Served 21 years as a Communications Naval Electronic Technician (ET), serving 13 years overseas experiencing many cultures. I held positions in Operations, Production, Project, and Training Management. I was also a Public Affairs Officer (PAO).
I managed technical support operations on communication systems critical to national security.
I retired from active duty with a:
B.S. in Business Administration
M,B,A, (Finance Emphasis)
I switched disciplines a bit since entering the civilian sector. The moves were all related to Tech and they all broadened my experience. I've been busy continuing my education and remaining relevant by earning the following certifications:
PMP - Project Management Professional
CISSP - Certified Information System Security Professional
CISM - Certified Information Security Manager
ITILv3 - IT Infrastructure Library Foundation
CFCM - Certified Federal Contract Manager
PSM - Professional Scrum Master
Sec+ - CompTIA Security+
I've been supporting US Special Operations Command Headquarters (USSOCOM HQ) since 2007 and hold a security clearance.
I'm a distance runner. I've completed the Gasparilla Half Marathons annually, Inaugural Skyway Bridge 10K, Fort Hammer Bridge Runs, H2H 10K, Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon, Spacecoast Half Marathon, Tampa Hospital Bolt 5 Miler, Miles for Moffitt 10K, and St Pete Beach Classic Half Marathon, Next up is the Gasparilla Half Marathon (Feb), and the Skyway Bridge 10K (Mar). I'm also spending a lot more time in the gym. I have five full marathons under my belt, and may try a sixth this fall.
My dream when I was younger was to be a Wall Street Stock Broker. Life got in the way and I pursued the great profession I have now. Regardless, I still use the skills I acquired through my MBA and self education and actively invest in the stock market. I remain abreast with the markets through the WSJ, Fortune, Forbes, and watching/listening to CNBC.
I'm becoming more proficient in Information Security (InfoSec) and cyber technology. The industry is on fire and I'm going to be part of it. I earned the CISSP and CISM, actually all my certifications without bootcamps - just plain old studying. I'm currently studying the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) training series and study guides - although I don't think I'll take the certification exam... but I'll complete the courses. Then I'll emphasis on Penetration Testing (PentTest).
Running and staying in shape is important as well. I'm committed to running at least one organized distance run every month and improving my times too. I have five marathons under my belt and would like to add one or two to my list. You can find me in the gym too.
