I was once told – The easiest and safest way to become rich, was to earn an MBA in Finance, because finance must become a second language. I earned that MBA, building those comprehensive spreadsheets, setting up a multitude of formulas to test predictions. Everyone in class had to do this. I also learned equities, bonds, leasing vs purchasing, leveraging, international law, economics, personal investing, and various management tools.
I read the Wall Street Journal everyday. It’s no secret that the Journal is the first thing influential professionals read every morning. It’s the easiest way to digest what’s going on in the financial worlds. Everything runs on capital. It’s not just stock and bond stuff, it’s about what the economy is doing, or not doing. What companies are doing and not doing. They also host a “Personal Journal’, “Career Journal”, and other unique sections like Cybersecurity, AI, and others. There is even a sports page once or twice a week. I personally like the old fashioned paper version, but the promotions have all run out making paper very expensive. I recently obtained the on line version for $1/week during a holiday period sale.
CNBC is a great finance channel. My favorite segment is Squawk Box in the morning which starts at 6 AM. I begin listening in the gym. There are other programs too. I have a subscription that provides many tools (TV and Radio streams & recorded interviews)online and I get it on my Sirius/XM Radio as well.
I have one email address where I have my financial emails drop, so I can focus on reading those types of emails when I’m ready.
Money doesn’t buy you happiness, it buys you freedom, and freedom buys your happiness.
