I recently debated upgrading my MacBook from Sequoia to Tahoe. Like many IT professionals, my standard operating procedure is to wait out the initial release (26.0) and hold off until the first major patch (26.1) ensures stability.

When I looked for community feedback, the sentiment was overwhelmingly negative. Users were reporting issues with 26.0 and even the patched 26.1. However, after digging deeper, I found the quiet minority: users who had updated without a hitch. I took the calculated risk, ran the update, and it was effortless.

This experience reminded me of a fundamental truth about user feedback: we rarely document success. Most people have zero motivation to comment when software works exactly as designed. We only feel the urge to post when expectations aren’t met.

Case in point: Do you ever call your cell phone provider to say, “Thanks, I haven’t had a dropped call in months”? Of course not. You only dial that number when service fails. We have to remember that online reviews often represent the exception, not the rule.
